How do you soften up a new t-shirt to give it a vintage feel quickly?

I have tried the soaking in salt water and washing soda and also washing multiple times with salt and the washing soda. I really have not seen much change!

Any suggestions out there?

Have you tried soaking it in tea or coffee?

Ah, that would change the color to a more vintage-y look, but probably not change the softness. It can be hard to change the feel of a fabric, but try the dryer balls, like Kathy mentioned below--I bet that will help!

Soak in vinegar. Then wash a few times and add fabric softener then use wool balls in the dryer.

I would think that the fabric content may be to blame. Cotton gets soft but polyester doesn't.

There are 3 shirts I’m trying to soften. They are all 100% cotton

I use liquid softener when washing cotton t-shirts. I guess I am wondering what you mean by vintage? Old? Faded? Soft? If soft, use liquid softener and be sure to dry your t-shirts in the dryer until they are dry....do not put them in alone....just with other like fabrics/colors.
