You can use a stiff angled brush to flick the dirt up and out of there!

Vacuum the dust first then spot clean with the carpet cleaner.

Dust the area out with a small brush and collect it, toss it out and then vacuum. You do not specify that the carpeting is actually soiled so only spot clean if necessary. Usually it's just a build up of dust and linty stuff.

I asked a carpet cleaner about this and he told me that it is there because I need to get the ducts cleaned. I'm sure that's true, but is that the only fix? I've tried a scrub brush with carpet cleaner and also the skinny attachment to my vacuum. I decided both of these were too labor intensive for me and they didn't work real well. Any other suggestions?
