Oxyclean should work. Just add it to water and let the bra soak in it for about 20 minutes then handwash as usual.

  • Soak in a nix of peroxide and lemon juice, hang it in the sunshine! I don't use bleach on mine so the elastic will last longer so mine can get sorta dingie looking too

Thanks for your suggestion which I will try and then let it dry outside in the sun. Our hard water here makes all my whites dingy looking.

    Hi Belinda,

It depends on how old it is and the material it's made from. A member of my family will not use chemicals for bleaching purposes, so she uses lemon juice and the sun to keep things white. Another option might be to soak it in a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water, then again hang it in the sun. I've also read that they will stay white longer if they are washed by hand. In addition, if you can't get them white, I read in another place to soak them in strong black tea to turn them flesh colored! Wishing you the best.

Thanks Linda as lemon juice sounds interesting (I love lemony smell) and I'm going to try all the suggestions I received. Most have said to let it dry in the sun so I'm definitely doing that. Its our hard water that makes my whites look so dingy.

I wash all my white bras with light colored clothing (not jeans and darks) , not with whites as the bleach will cause the elastic to degrade. Also washing in bleach will cause the elastic fabric to yellow over time. I wash them in a net bag. However if they have discolored try adding Fabric Bluing to your white wash. Just a few drops in a pail of water, then add this to your laundry. Do not add the bluing directly . Also 20 Mule Train Borax is good to add to this mixture (which includes your regular detergent) as well.
