Trust me on this. Get a brown paper bag and your iron. Tear off a piece of the brown paper and place it over the dried wax. Gently run your warm iron (doesn't have to be super hot) over the paper and the wax will melt and absorb into the paper as you press. Move the paper as it gets all waxy to a fresh spot or grap another piece until all the wax is absorbed. I've done this many times and it even works on clothes! Good luck.
I have done this with a couple of sheets of paper towel. It seems to absorb more wax. It really is a good idea.
Use ice first so you can get it to harden and break off in clumps. Cat particles so they do not go deeper into the carpet. Anything to melt or dissolve the wax will allow it to embed into the fibers; use solvent/heat as last resort. WD40 is also good at getting things to turn loose.
A hair dryer and viniger after you blt up the melted wax .
use an iron and paper towels put paper towels on the wax and then put the iron on towels keep moving the paper towel and changing them when they get dirty us a the iron should be fairly warm ... just be carful not to melt the carpet or what ever the wax is on
