My living room curtains got wet from water during a fire in my neighbor's apt. They now have black mold spots on them, they are machine washable, can I use peroxide on them to remove the stains?

Peroxide might remove the color. Try washing them with Oxyclean or some other washing supplement. Don't dry in the dryer; hang them up. If you dry in the dryer, that can permanently set any stains that are left.

White vinegar kills mold/mildew and there is no worry about it bleaching out the color in your curtains. Air and sunshine are natural mold/mildew killers too. If the mold is not extensive, consider hanging the curtains outside on a sunny day and spritz them liberally with white vinegar. (Don't worry, the vinegar smell will evaporate.) If that works, then run them through the washer. If it doesn't, try soaking the curtains in white vinegar and water.

Dawn with bleach alternative plus white vinegar will take it out and kill the spores so it will not readily return. Take a spray bottle and fill with this mixture for a weekly preventative. It also helps keep mold from forming on tile grout or in the corners of a shower.

Try lying them out in the sun. Then have them dry cleaned. The sun will kill the mold

first off black mold is toxic and should be carefully bagged and thrown in the trash. if you must clean them then i suggest using Hydrogen peroxide and Dr Bronners soap and soaking them. it might bleach the color so try a spot first. use one large bottle of hydrogen peroxide a tablespoon of soap and warm water from the tap in a 5 gallon bucket. soak all day then scrub with soft brush or hands.

I put vodka in a spray bottle and used it on a Sport Jacket, I had stored in the basement. It removed the mold and the musty smell.

Soak in vinegar and laundry detergent in the hottest water your curtains will tolerate. If they have to be washed in cold, use at least tepid water. Then wash in the washing machine with more vinegar and laundry detergent.
