How can I get my gray undershirts white?
My DH wears sleeveless undershirts and no matter what we try they always turn a dingy gray. How can we keep them white or make them white, again?
I always throw salt in the first wash alone, and then 1/2c of vinegar in the rinse.
Easy! Soak overnight in a bucket (or sink) of water and a cup of white vinegar. Then wash inside out in cold water with a cup of vinegar. Hang on a skirt hanger to dry. Here are a couple links with variations on the same theme.

I also turn jeans inside out to wash
Just a thought is vinager in the wash to set color like you do with easter eggs..
soak in salt water overnight then wash as usual this should set the color.
