What causes towels to have spots, faded colors?

    I hazard a guess to say your detergent. If you pour some detergents on top of the clothes it will do that. If you put detergent in first and swirl the water before you put clothes in it may help. Otherwise try another detergent.

    do you have your own washer dryer or do you go to a laundry mat? I’ve had clothes spotted by bleach left in a dispenser.

    I could also be a bad batch of dye from the manufacturer.

      Hmmm and no one uses whitening toothpaste? What a puzzle this is! I finally actually looked it up and surprisingly there are a lot of products with chemicals that can do this, from Clearasil to disinfectants used in pools. See if this article can shed some light:

    Old towels, cheap manufacturing, dripping bleach or other chemicals on them, hard water, hanging them in the sun, etc, etc.
