Spots lefts on cloths that were not there before washing. Help?

My washer is leaving clay looking spots and stripes on the cloths when I wash . ( not every load) We had the service man out but said it was the washer just needed
cleaning. We keep the washer sparkling clean inside and out. We use the suggested cleaning packets every few weeks. any ideas? It is a Kenmore and we have had several Kenmores over my 69 yrs and never had a problem. Thank you.

It might be in the water, is the water filtered?

I wonder if it's soap or fabric softener not getting rinsed out. Do the spots and stripes wash out in a second wash/rinse cycle?

Hard water can also contribute to this. but you said this is new with this machine.

If its a water efficiency model I have friends saying they need extra rinses even with using way less soap and softener. So much for saving on water bill.

It sounds like the filters and hoses need to be cleaned. Detach both hoses and fill with vinegar, allowed to soak. Soak cotton balls in vinegar and place over the filters on the inside of washer where hoses attached. I would also put vinegar soaked cotton balls in the faucets that the hoses attached to. After soaking clean with a toothbrush. I also encountered this problem and that's how I solved it. Good luck

Run your washing machine empty except for your soap. If you see it is still not clean, run it again. Then once a month or so repeat to keep it clean

Hmm, I've been blaming my little granddaughter for the ruined towel. She loves to play with my makeup which is not coming off in the wash. Still, it's just the one towel so far. I'll be watching for more information from Hometalkers. 😇
