Easy and Mild Deep Cleaning for Vinyl Floors

I love cleaning and I've used almost every product and solution you can name, even industrial ones. I cannot any longer though due to severe allergies, therefore I had to devise a way to deep clean my floors but with mild cleaners. Those of us that have four legged family members realize floors can get dirt grinded in them if they are rough surface or have a lot of texture.
First, I'll remove any items on the floor like my flower pot and garbage bin, then I'll give my floor a thorough sweeping.
Most of the time I use Avon Bubble bath in peppermint or lavender scents, they are mild and I don't have a reaction. For this deep clean I use dish liquid because it's a degreaser and the commercial products I used to strip floors were actually degreasers! Who knew? So I just added a few drops in some very warm water along with using my scrubbing brush and a cloth.
I dipped the brush in the sudsy water and covered a small area with water to give it a thorough yet light scrub. This will depend on the texture and grooves in your vinyl and how dirty the buildup on the floors are.
When I complete scrubbing a section I wipe up the water and soak the cloth again in the same water and give that same area another wipe over. This us the part where you'll be shocked over the dirt that will come off!!
You'll notice your bucket water will get gray fast so when I do this deep clean I get fresh cleaning solution often. Notice how mine looks poured into the cup after I cleaned just a small area! This was purely to give you some idea of what you'll see and how well it loosens the dirt from your floor.
The scent didn't bother me and it was an effective cleaner, you could use whatever dish liquid you normally buy as long as it's known to remove grease. Oh yes you'll also need to use a little elbow grease! Have a try you'll be amazed!

Yes, I would like to know the water/detergent/vinegar ratios. I clean my vinyl floor with vinegar/water and it comes out great. Floor is extra dirty with stuck on food/dirt and I don't want to damage no wax finish. Thanks for the nfo on the Shark machine; cost???

We have a vinyl floor that was deeply scratched when a refrigerator was removed. It left little holes with black that I can't scrub out. Will your method work?

I am also becoming sensitive to harsh cleaners. Two years ago I bought a Bissell floor steamer. It is the bomb on vinyl and tile floors. I wish I could use it on all my floors.

So this really isn't an EASY solution since you have to get on your hands and knees and scrub, correct? You can pretty much get the same results doing that with any cleaning solutions.

    • I guess so but for folks with allergies....no! This isn't something I do every week by the way, more of a seasonal deep cleaning that doesn't require harsh cleaners and yet deep cleans.
