Rub it hard with an ice cube (I use a rag or gloves to hold the cold cubes) and make it hard, then using a box cutter knife carefully cut the gum out of the carpet. The ice you put on it will make it more rigid and easier to remove. Don't cut too deeply into the carpet, just a shallow cut that gets the gum off. It should not show. OR another method is to rub peanut butter into the gum and it will turn loose, but then you have grease marring the carpet an will need to clean it off. It is easiest and quicker to use the ice cube trick. Hope this helps, Jan.
- Place a few handfuls of ice in a zip lock bag.
- Put the bag of ice directly onto the gum stain. ...
- Use a scraping tool to fully scrape the gum from the carpet.
- Sponge the gum stain directly with cleaning fluid such as 409.

freeze it!! They make a gum remover that freezes it, it sprays out of a can, then when it is hard it can be broken and chipped away. You can try ice cubes too. Let it sit on there a bit, walk away and come back in a bit, I used a spoon to scrape it up and break it off, could use a butter knife, putty knife etc.
Ice it. You should be able to pull it right up.
