Susan I can help with this one!

Make sure your mop is rung out as Michu as possible. Rinse the mop often.

Move chabged over to a cloth pad that I spray the floor and mop basically water free and all

    chemical free.

My mop is a Norwex mop system. It’s great for bare floors. I do sell them as a

    consultant but im

only mentioning this because I’ve had such trouble with my wood and rubber floor that looks like wood. Kinda like linoleum or laminated floors but not really.

Anyway this has been the best way to get and keep my floors spot/stereo free and much cleaner.

3 people in the house with cat and dog too.

Thanks Ms. Judy- what cleaning product should I use for this hardwood floor? I have used Bona and see that it is recommended but I have water spots also. Should I go to the big box stores to ask about product/s to bleach these spots?

Use Bona for hardwood floors. If really dirty use one cup of lemon scented ammonia to one gallon hot water

Thanks William. I have used Bona before not on these floors and do like it and will use it after I have used the lemon ammonia solution but I have water spots also. Should I go to the big box stores to ask about product/s to bleach these spots? thanks.

What kind of water spots? Surface spots or black discoloration? Maybe there's a solution here.

Thanks William! There are several dark areas. I think they are deeper than just surface. I also noticed that some of the oak planks are a different color than others. These floors were refinished approx 20 years ago but it appears that there was only one coat of clear poly put on? Maybe the ammonia cleaning and Bona will fix the issue? Can one spot clean/refinish/poly coat?

Refinishing would mean some light sanding after cleaning the floor. You can rent an oscillating orbital sander to remove old finish then three coats of a water based poly. Putting poly just on the spots may not match or look right with the rest of the floor.

Thank you! I got a lot of advice from the link you sent and will start with the Bona and see where it takes me. I also got info on discoloration, spots, scratches etc. Given me enough good info to keep me busy and/or to determine what next step/s will be.
