How do I prevent film buildup on bamboo floors?

by Lynne

I have the same issue. I have bamboo floors from Lumber liquidators. Their cleaner streaked and I have used the Bissell Crossover with their wood floor cleaner and it has worked well but suddenly I'm getting a film that comes up a day or so after using and tracks footprints, etc. Bono streaked terribly and I'm at a loss what do. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Hi Lynne,

Here's some information about cleaning bamboo floors. I don't use the cleaners that you have so I don't know why there is a buildup but it might be something that is in them. Check out this article to see if you can glean any tips. Wishing you the best.

Hi Lynne. I'm Cindy. I did a bit of reading so that I could answer your DIY question properly. This is what I learned: To keep your bamboo floors looking new, sweep daily with a soft-bristle broom. Mop them once a week with wood soap or hardwood-rated cleaner. You should also vacuum the floors once a week using a felt head attachment. If you want to make your own cleaner, you could mix a quarter-cup of white vinegar into a quart of water. This mixture will allow you to clean the surface of your bamboo floors safely. Good luck Lynne.

You have to use something with ammonia in it to cut the build up. The buildup is a combo of product and chemicals in the water itself. This sounds ridiculous but winded has ammonia in it. Add to your water or a small bit of household ammonia works as well
