The way the air flows in my house, there is always dirt and dog hair on my nice white bathroom floor. The tile is in in good shape but I need a way to keep the floor looking clean!

Install a small air cleaner in the room. You will be surprised how much it helps with cleaning. You will have to either clean the filter or change it regularly.

Also, up your air filter schedule for HVAC.

Get a good trapping entrance rug. I added a microfiber rug and I'm amazed at how much dirt it traps. You might want to put a second one at the bathroom door.

I had this as well when we had our dog. I just ended up keeping the bathroom door closed all the time when not in there!

Use an electrostatic or microfiber dry mop. A vacuum cleaner will just blow the hair around and make it more difficult for you to capture.

As a suggestion to reduce the amount of dog hair, regularly brush your dog outside when ever possible.

Hi! We watch our daughter's black cat when she travels for work, and I feel your pain! The hair ends up everywhere. The only solution I have so far is running the swiffer over the floors almost every day and using a hand vacuum for grout. Maybe someone else has a better method!

I'd get a robot vacuum and use it just in that room. They are getting cheaper and cheaper - especially if you get an off brand.

We have a bulldog and she sheds a lot. She has monthly visits to the groomer which helps some. But what has helped the most if daily brushing. That seems to get most of the loose hair but daily vacuuming is probably the best method.

Why not keep the dog outside? I know that with a fur baby that isn't always a consideration but it is an alternative.

    Hello Zibby,

Fix a cowl over the vent to change the direction air enters your bathroom.

Just because air comes from another direction, doesn't mean that dirt & hair are not around. Keep a microfiber floor-wiping cloth handy in the bathroom to wipe the floor often and just make a habit of cleaning any time you see a messy floor. Change your air/furnace filters regularly. Dogs are the best exercise---they keep you busy!

  • I have a microfiber mop that I keep in my closet and every day I run it quickly around the house. It helps a lot. Another thing that helps is in the cold months, I keep a rug on the floor. It seems to trap a lot and then I shake it.

    Swifter.

  • Microfiber will really come in handy!

  • I feel that pain! Get a reusable mop cover, like a Swiffer but microfiber so you can wash and reuse, then dry dust the floor as often as needed.
