We have a cat issue with one room, he was sick ave destroyed the carpet. My plan is to remove the carpet, sand, stain, and polyurethane the floor to get rid of the Smell. If you have any easier suggestions on the best way to clean up this mess, our spring cleaning largest project, please let me know.

I was hoping to ask if you know the best process, most cost efficient way, to clean up cat urine from flooring?

Thank you in advance.

Your remove the carpet, sand, stain, and polyurethane will be about the only approach as cat urine is one of the most difficult smells to get rid of. Good luck.

Yes, treat the stains first, before using polyurethane. Let the baking soda and vinegar do it's job. May take several treatments.

I have 12 cats. Amazon sells "Natures Miracle Just for Cats", and "BioKleen Bac-Out Stain & Odor Eliminator". I use both. Both work well for cat pee smell. I also use peroxide (99cents at WalMart) to remove stains when necessary. Baking soda and vinegar don't work as well. This is one time you should trust the professionals. It's too expensive to cut corners.

Hi Jill. Mix together a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide, half of a cup of baking soda and one teaspoon of Dawn dish soap. Scrub with this solution and a hard bristle brush. Soak up any solution left behind with an old towel. Repeat if necessary.
