It will depend on the finish that was used on the floor when it was laid. Mine have a polyurethane finish on them and I mop with 2 gallon warm water, 1 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/2 tsp blue dawn (wrung thoroughly). That cleans and keeps them shiny but a couple of times a year I run my Shark steam mop over them and then spritz with OrangeGlo. For day to day, I use a microfiber mop that is similar to a swiffer but you just throw the pad in the wash instead of replacing.
You've been given some good tips, but I caution you to not make it too slippery.
First you can try a product called rejuvenate for wood floors. Its purpose is to restore dull looking floors. You can find this at Home Depot in the cleaning aisle.
Bob Vila from This Old House has some good tips:

HELLO,
When I had a hardwood floor, I would use a sanding machine lightly over the area, and then use an electric polisher. Otherwise it is just hands and knees and a whole load of work!
I recommend to rent a machine (depending on how large of a space you have) and use a hardwood polish such as this one: https://amzn.to/2DlHyj1

You could be.t a mop and glo but once you polish it you wil have to keep doing it and water spots are a pain to deal with .
Hello.
We have had hardwood floors in our 7 different homes and have used a lot of HW floor products over the years. We stopped using the steam mop when it started blistering off the finish at the seams on a new traditional oil based sealed oak hw floor installation.
The past two years we have been using the BONA mop and solution and we’re very pleased with the results.

Steam mops can be hazardous to both hw and laminate. I got rid of mine I believe its too risky.
Try rejuvenate product for floors .. If floor was not finished with a shine it won't get shiney. You don't want to add wax because it's a huge maintenance upkeep. Wood Floors should have a satin finish for the best look.
