How do I remove a cat urine odor from hardwood floors?

This my be the wrong venue to get an answer but I thought to try it.We have cat urine odor and some stain removal in an area of hardwood flooring due to 2 cat urine accidents. I have tried several coats of Nature's Miracle and 2 coats of Urine Off (Veterinarian strength) and after all of that, I mixed water and vinegar and with a steamer sponge mop. The area odor minimizes for a while but the next day, it seems the odor returns. Our cat box is kept clean outside and inside so I am desperate to find any other solutions that may work. The enzymes have to be alive for >24 hours, as in very wet, saturated & covered.
You may have to throw in the towel and use wood bleach after they’ve been sanded raw with a belt sander.
No enzymes will live where bleach residue or other chemicals will kill them.

Try hydrogen peroxide.
Hi Pamela: I had this problem a few years back. My cats peed on the carpet and it went through to the floor for years. When I went to remove the carpet, ick! What I used was a product called Odormute. It's a granule, and you mix it with warm water. Spray it on the stain and let it dry. It's an enzyme eater, which is what you need, and it doesn't have it's own smell so it's not covering up a smell but eliminating it. You can get it at, most likely, at Walmart, some pet stores and on-line, It's environmentally friendly and you can even wash your cat with it if the cat gets skunked :) I've used it for years with great success and recommend it highly. If you have a stain left, soak the area with hydrogen peroxide and let it sit for a few days. You may even put a washcloth over the stain and keep it wet with the hydrogen peroxide. Don't over soak the cloth as you don't want to raise the grain of the wood too much. If it does raise, just sand it smooth, going with the grain, not against or in a circular manner, and then re-stain with a matching stain of the rest of the floor and seal.
