What do you use to wash your ceramic/ hardwood floors?

Since I’ve had housecleaners come in, my floors are not looking the same as when I did them with an H2O steam mop. Any suggestions on what to put in their buckets to wash these floors?

    Hi Jeanette,

Most of these floors can be cleaned with a little warm water. They can add about 1/2 C vinegar for ceramic and use Murphy's Oil Soap for hardwood if you want a cleaner in that water. With any cleaner, test it on your floors in an inconspicuous place first and if it's a commercial product, follow the directions on the container. Wishing you the best.

Can your housecleaners use the steam mop? Sounds like you liked your floors better when you cleaned them with the steam mop.

I usually use a household cleaner for ceramic floors something like PineSol or Spic and span.

For hardwoods I use the BONA system exclusively.

We have had hardwood floors in our 7 different homes and have used a lot of HW floor products over the years. We stopped using the steam mop when it started blistering off the finish at the seams on a new traditional oil based sealed oak hw floor installation.

The past 4 years we have been using the BONA mop and solution and we’re very pleased with the results.
