Try using baking soda mixed with a little bit of water to form a paste. Rub in a circular motion with a soft cloth. Once you see the mark lessening put a little olive oil on the spot.

Howard's Restor-A-Finish. Gets out water marks, scratches and heat marks. Available at any Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and lots of Antique Stores. www.howardproducts.com for more info. A favorite of Antique Dealers since 1969!

I used and olive oil and salt mixture. Rub it on and leave it for a few hrs. Remove with soft cloth. If the stain is still there like mine was. Use some fine steel wool. After doing this my water stain was gone.

Patsy, are you saying the top is Formica and not a wood veneer?
  • Patsy Stuart Patsy Stuart on Nov 06, 2015
No, not formica but it is some type of modern day wood look finish. Doesn't look like the veneer used on antique furniture. Table is from Bassett.

Great idea. I will contact Bassett. Thank You!

Try a hair dryer on medium heat

If its veneer a mix of mayo and ashes will eliminate any rings from moisture.

Vaseline applied liberally and left overnight usually does the trick for me.

Susan this is from heat not just moisture. Patsy I know just what your are speaking of. My daughter's table did the same thing. I will be following this post to see if you can solve your problem and maybe my daughters also!
