Easy ways to restore wooden furniture

Question

I have a solid wood coffee table with white round marks due to heat from  coffee cups!  They make a beautiful table look very cheap. What is an easy cheap way to bring it back to its former self.

To remove the water marks apply an oily substance of oil,mayo,peanut butter,coconut oil etc. Leave on overnight for the stains to come to the surface. Then polish as you would normally do.

You can also place a towel over the spot and use an iron (with the steam turned OFF) and iron over the towel and the spot will disappear.

Without seeing a picture of the area in question, I really can't offer an educated opinion.  My late husband and I owned and operated a furniture construction/repair/restoration business for 30 years and saw many 'oops' situations with furniture.  My gut reaction is to do as little interactive harm as possible, which means using mineral oil to moisturize the area.  Mineral oil won't go rancid like other oils could.  The towel/iron method might be effective, too.  Some of the effectiveness depends on how the piece is finished.
