Carol on Jan 01, 2016There is a wonderful window cleaning spray called Sprayway, available at Target and other stores. I use it on my bathroom mirrors. It is amazing and has never let me down. For my exterior windows I use a little NON-SUDSING ammonia in warm water and an Ettore (the Cadillac of squeegees!) squeegee. Windows stay clean much longer when a squeegee is used.Helpful Reply

Amy on Jan 01, 2016Whatever you clean with, use one micro fiber towel to clean & one Terry cloth towel to dry & buff.Helpful Reply

Anney on Jan 01, 2016I use the Sprayaway product also. And I have found the cloths that I use must not be washed with any fabric softener used in the rinse cycle at all. I use a micro fiber cloth and terry cloth to dry and buff also.Helpful Reply

Margaret on Jan 01, 2016After several years of housecleaning jobs, the very best 'tools' I have for mirrors and windows are not cheap, but sooo worth the cost. Check out the Norwex brand enviro cloth(micro fiber) and polishing cloth. They are two things I would never do without for a streak free clean using water only. I have found similar, but cheaper quality, micro fiber cloths/towels and polishing cloths at a dollar store and also big box hardware store. Just not as happy with them. Several people had told me about them but I refused to spend the money... until my daughter let me use hers and I was sold!Helpful Reply

M. How on Jan 02, 2016For mirrors and glass tops on furniture, I use 1 part vinegar and 2 parts hot water. wipe down with a paper towel and immediately dry with a second paper towel. Vinegar has no surfactant in it so dust and dirt does not cling. For windows I use the same method PLUS either silicone spray or WD40. This is how I do the last step: Fold a paper towel into quarters. On one quarter spray the silicone or wd40 on to the paper towel. Wipe the window either left to right or up and down. Then take another paper towel, fold into quarters and wipe the window until it shines. Then I spray and shine my windowsill too. The trick to this last step is using the spray sparingly and really shining the window. Living next to two expressways and one major artery in New York, this last step keeps my windows clean for 4 to 6 months because the soot and dirt do not stick when it rains. Try it. It will save you a lot of work.Helpful Reply
