How do i get the musty smell out of a steamer trunk
Smell really musty. It is nearly winter time here. Pretty wet and cold so I can sit it out side.
Charcoal!
Try diluting some white vinegar with an equal amount of water, put it in a spray bottle and spray the inside surfaces. Vinegar gets rid of a lot of smells and disinfects as well.Let sit overnight and then air it out.
If possible put it outside in the sunshine with the top open, that may take out some of the odor, then treat it closed with the charcoal or the vinegar solution. Set them sit closed with whatever you use. Then air it out again and see if the odor is gone. You may have to repeat a few times if it is really stubborn, but it should go away.

You can also try putting a box of baking soda in the trunk and letting it sit for days. Baking soda is an excellent odor eliminator.
