Sprinkle baking soda on them and leave on until the odor is absorbed.
a wonderful product at a smoke shop called "smoke be gone" I used to smoke cigarettes and even I could tell it was gone
Normally if it is fabric the only way to completely remove it permanently is to have it steam cleaned.

Sprinkle baking soda with a few drops of essential oil like Geranium inside the furniture. I did this for items that had been in my parents' house and it worked well.
You can sprinkle it on the furniture also - just make sure you don't add too much oil, if you choose to use it.
