How do I clean the arms of rattan chairs?

Have had the furniture for several years and where we have used our hands it needs to be cleaned. Have heard not to use soap and water, but what can I do. Can the furniture be spray painted without ruining the rattan? Any help would be appreciated.

you should be okay with Murphys Oil Soap. It will clean it nice and it smells nice as well
Absolutely use Murphy's Oil Soap and warm water on the wood. I wouldn't spray paint it though. Keep the original finish as is. If it's worn down you can apply a Minwax stain in the color desired, then apply wipe on polyurethane for protection. Best of luck.
