    Polish wood with mayonaise

  • What type of finish is on the wood? It all depends on how and what type of sealant was used. My best guess here is that you want a lacquer finish and your piece may not have that. You can always have the piece redone for you or do it yourself.

When I finished my small butcher block island, I used high gloss tung oil. After each coat, I very lightly sanded and wiped before applying the next. The tung oil dried relatively quickly in a cool, dry room. I did at least 8 or 9 coats, but the results are a beautiful, glass-like finish. The whole process took about 3 days since I did a coat in the morning, a coat in the afternoon and one more in the evening.

Do you mean something that is already finished? Or how to finish so that it shines?
