How to clean sticky kitchen cabinets

Moved into a new place. It looks clean but the surfaces above the stove are so sticky they leave your fingers sticky for several washes. Surfaces are aluminum at the air exhaust above stove and Formica under cabinets. How best to clean?

If those don't work, TSP will.

Use TSP -- Trisodium Phosphate. Be sure to wear gloves.

This may seem odd, but I use Mineral Oil and wipe everything down. Takes some muscle. Afterwards I finish with vinegar/water. It works foe me.

I once had a place like that. Its grease that has not been removed and sort of jelled onto the lace. I used 409 spray cleaner and it was gone in a minute!

Thank you. I didn't try it only because this kitchen is at a rental while I'm an expat working abroad and no 409 here... But, see my answer below - Windex worked perfectly. I found it to work well in kitchens. And no, I don't own stock, it's just good and cheap... :)

I used trisodium phosphate on formica-type cabinets. They actually had moulding made of plastic around the cabinet doors. It all cleaned up beautifully! Be sure to follow ALL directions carefully.

Hi Everyone, thank you for all the suggestions! This was so bad that I had already put in dishwasher and it came out sticky still! Easiest way yet was... spray with Windex liberally wait 10 minutes and spray again. Then go over it with a brush with bristles that was dipped in dish soap. Wipe and repeat the brush with windex only. Perfect!! I found Windex to be a powerful degreaser in the past and gave it a shot. Worth it!!
