I would try using heat, either a hair dryer or iron (on low setting) working in a small spot at at time lifting as it gets warm.
Warm water then dry very well after
Have you perhaps tried warming it with a blow dryer? That may loosen it for you, Linda.
I believe it is probably a cotton residue left from something that may have been very warm set on the table cloth. I would try baby oil which is maybe from mineral sprints or even olive oil. Put on a spot test then go from ther . The oil will bring back luster to the wood and protect it also.
Sorry I was going back to the old days when they had a backing. So the vinyl itself is stuck. Where I work we have to have to remove stickers for pricing very often. They use an orange or lemon spray called california scents.this is an air freshener but it takes off glue and or residue from most surfaces. I tested I on my wooden table it cleaned it but did not take the finish off. I would still try the baby oil between the vinyl and the tableto see if it will lift the table cloth. If you try the orange oil I would not let it sit on the wood for very long as it might take the finish off after a period of time
Please let me know if it works! And thanks for asking the question.
