What is the best cleaner to use to clean & prep kitchen cabinets?
I have laminate kitchen cabinets and really can't afford to buy all new wood ones. Therefore, I am going to try to paint them, hopefully adding some molding to some and glass to a couple to update the look. I need to know what to do to clean and prep them and is there a specific paint to use. Thanks

MiMi,. Murphy's oil soap, it's for wood. Read the directions, and let them dry completely. You can find the oil in the supermarket with other cleaners. Aloha!
Wash with TSP, what I use before any paint project. You need to prime, then paint. Visit a stand alone paint store, their staff can guide you through the process.
Hi ! I painted my cabinets and countertops. I used a cleaner called Krud Kutter de glosser. I got it from home depot for about $6 . This gets them cleaned and prepped . I used advance paint made by Benjamin Moore. It comes in tons of colors, it is a hybrid type paint that cleans with the ease of soap and water but dries hard like an enamel and you need the recommended primer , as well. Each cost about $40 . You also need to get small width roller and foam sleeves and a sanding sponge .
I would clean your cabinets with the de glosser , then use the the sanding sponge
After using the sponge , vacuum , dust and wipe the cabinets free of all dust .
This is when you would glue down the molding . After that dries , apply a coat of primer, letting it dry completely. Then do a coat of paint, let it dry and decide if it needs a second coat . Good luck !!!
