The Best and Worst Ways to Clean Wood Kitchen Cabinets

Are your wood kitchen cabinets due for a good cleaning? We researched and tested the best ways to remove grease, pen marks, and food splatters.
The wood cabinets in my kitchen are at least 15 years old. I can't remember the last time I cleaned them. When a neighbor noticed the greasy grime on the cabinets over the stove, I was blindsided. I never noticed how filthy they actually were! I tried to clean them using a basic all purpose cleaner but the muck did not budge. So I did some research and tried around 10 different ways to get them clean. I share the best and the worst methods to get wood kitchen cabinets clean.
There is a popular cleaning recipe on Pinterest that says olive oil mixed with baking soda will clean grease off cabinets. And it does! The problem is as I later found out is that olive oil is a non-drying oil. When applied on wood it just kind of sits there and eventually it spoils. After a few days the one cabinet door I cleaned using olive oil and baking soda started to smell funny. Also the greasy residue the olive oil left started to attract dust like crazy. I share another natural product that should never be used to clean wood in my blog post.
How did I remove that thick greasy layer of grime? Goo Gone! It is safe to use on wood and it removed the greasy grime lickety-split! I share more tips for removing grease, and also paint and pen marks in my blog post.
