We shared this tip on Chemistry Cachet many years in a post all about cleaning hacks with salt.

Then, we did an Instagram reel about it and everyone loved it!

This is an easy tip that works so well to clean glass bottles or containers you can't reach with a brush or sponge. Readers have been writing in already about how well it worked for them.

Here is our quick Instagram reel you can check out, and be sure to follow us on Instagram where we share little videos, tips, and stories daily.

Ingredients you need:

  • Ice cubes
  • Table salt

Directions:

  1. Fill glass container halfway with ice cubes.I do a mix of whole cubes and crushed.
  2. Add in a few tablespoons of regular table salt.
  3. Out the lid back on. If container doesn’t have a lid, cover it with something secure like foil or press and seal. Just something to allow you to shake.
  4. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds or until ice starts to break up.
  5. Rinse under warm water.

This is the water bottle I use to mix up collagen, but nothing fits inside to clean it! I use this method for cleaning and it makes it crystal clear :)

If you don't have a lid for the top of your container, just use some foil. I use foil when I do this to my coffee pot.
