How to Care for Your Cutting Board + DIY

It was one of those projects that started with good intentions – a little love for an old cutting board. But the DIY took a few twists and turns along the way. First the story of the DIY with an unhappy ending, and then we will learn how to clean and care for your cutting board. When life hands you lemons…
I found this while out antiquing with Hubby. Yes, that is what we do! It’s an old, wooden cutting board that spins to hold knives on the other side.
While painting, I chipped off a spot right at the nail. My goal was to sell this piece as part of the Fortitude Collection, but even with Hubby fixing it up for me, it was too damaged to sell. Not to mention, a spinning cutting board is pretty dangerous.
First, to clean a wooden cutting board, squeeze some fresh lemon, and scrub with salt. Seriously, it’s that easy! Then, to care for it, you can use coconut oil as a top coating.
Seriously… whoever thought of this wasn’t really thinking this through. Can you imagine cutting something on a spinning cutting board?

Might you be able to add a full shot of this odd cutting board? I am curious as to what it actually looks like. Congratulations on saving such a unique find. I just did your lemon-salt scrub, and polished in some coconut oil. It ceaned up well, and the smell is amazing. Made myself hungry for some lemon macaroons... back to the kitchen I go!
