I have seen damaged wood floors have sections removed a board at a time and then new wood woven in. One factor is being able to remove the wood without damaging the rest of the floor. Is there wood the same thickness and width to piece it back in (sometimes you can "steal" the wood from a closet)? The successful project I saw, the entire room was sanded, and then the floor was stained and sealed. I've read claims that you can bleach out the spots with hydrogen peroxide, but, the floor a relative did that way, the stain still didn't match. It really depends on the materials you have to work with, and the amount of work you are willing to put into it. My husband once fixed a floor board by prying it up, removing the nails and flipping it over to use the underside as the repair. That only works if it hasn't soaked through.
Your best bet is to bring in a hardwood flooring specialist. Yes, they can be cut out and replaced and since the wood is damaged that is the only way to fix it. It takes some special skills especially color matching.
replace is the best
Sanding may be the only solution
