I suggested to someone else that she make a paste of blue Dawn and baking soda. Use a slightly damp "scrubbie" of some sort and rub away. It will take a little bit of elbow grease but it does work. Oven cleaner is a terrible chemical to breathe in and is horrible for the environment. (sorry Shelly) Baking soda is harmless and safe to use on any finish. If the pan is really, really gunked, put a few drops of Dawn in it, add water to about 1/4 full and simmer on the stove for about 10 minutes. Put it in the sink and let it cool enough to put your hands in (or add cold water if you're in a hurry). Now start on it with your scrubbie. This should remove a good deal of the mess. Then use the Dawn/baking soda paste.

This works for me every time, even when I've burned a pan into a scorched, black mess (shame on me!). And if you have glass baking pans from which you can't seem to remove the brown baked-on stuff, the paste works great. They'll look new again. And then there's Corningware; it cleans and removes stains from that too.

Hi Vivian. I clean the bottom of all my pans by spraying on some hydrogen peroxide, then applying a layer of baking soda. Let sit overnite then scrub clean in the morning. It's Amazing! Also works great on glass cook tops :)
