Another job for Dawn dish soap and baking soda. The soda is just abrasive enough to scrub without causing damage and the Dawn cuts grease.

I use Cascade dishwasher liquid for thiose yellowish stains that gather at the handles and pot bottoms but I don't use a dishwasher. Spread the stuff on the bottom and let sit. Scrub off with old toothbrush or non-scratchy pad. It's not a mega-scrubbing task. Also, steel wool and just liquid dish detergent for some stains. Try the different answers; probably one will be better for one and another for another, unless your pots are all the same. If you have your mom's old cookie sheets, the bottoms probably need morer than one try-vinegar and Ajax dish liquid, applied to set over and over. Then steel wool worked on my mom's. I like to turn old to new!

For copper use 0000 steel wool and paste of vinegar and salt. Make sure to use 0000 steel wool because it is very fine and will not damage copper. On some of my other pans I use toothpaste and 0000 steel wool. For enamel coated pans I use toothpaste to remove stain as it does not scratch the enamel (also use on inside of pots).
