Cleaning old brass hinges - tips?

I have 8 butler table brass hinges that have been painted over and neglected. I have gotten the paint off but still need to get the brass to shine once again, Any ideas on how I do that without spending a fortune on harsh chemicals?

Brasso is a polish made just for that. I use it successfully.

Take a small table that will fit over it and and cover the sides from the bottom of the table to the bottom of its legs with a pretty fabric, painted decorated board or something similar , leaving just one end open. I used an old sewing machine cabinet, painted it, put decorated board on 3 sides , leaving the end open for an entrance. Any kind of cabinet or table. If it has a drawer yu can store cat items in it and use the top as the table surface. Just use your imagination and think out of the box. Another easier thing to do is get a large storage tub that the litter box will fit into and again cut a hole in the end for an entrance. That is if your cat doesn't mind using a covered box. My cats preferred the cabinet idea because it wasn't as closed in.
