How do I get the smell of cigarette smoke out of a sewing machine

I recently purchased a sewing machine and cabinet from the estate of a smoker. How can I remove the acrid smell?

I am a smoker and am constantly cleaning "everything" to remove the stain and smell from smoking. A lot of products work, like Dawn dish soap mixed in warm water, Mr. Clean, all multipurpose cleaners, etc. Rinse with warm water and dry. I highly suggest you wash the machine by hand; do not spray a cleanser which might damage the parts. Once you have the outside cleaned, I would take the machine in for cleaning and timing reset. Hope this helps.
