Our entry is where shoes get kicked off, muddy, messy and wet. What can I use to protect lower wall but still look good and not out of place. Our wall is painted dove gray.

One option might be to get a piece of clear plexiglass, and attach it (screw it into) over the portion of the wall that gets hit the most.

It will protect the wall, will keep it dry, and is easy to clean.

What about a larger boot tray? Any wainscoting would be in danger of damage.

I’m sure the wall is lovely. As long as nobody actually comes in or out! One idea is to buy a plastic basket that fits inside a wood/straw basket. Cut the plastic down to about 8-12”, which should be enough to hold several pairs of muddy shoes. Place the large straw basket on a towel on the entry floor. Place a large plastic or ceramic vase in the corner for closed umbrellas ☔️. Use clear Contact paper on the inside walls to keep down scuffs and washable rugs to keep down drips. Use a large metallic door guard to keep shoe marks and other marks off the door, and Rustoleum for the top part of the door. That ought to protect and prepare your door and entrance.

You need to put something on the wall so when they kick there shoes they hit that thing. My problem is my dogs make all my trim on the baseboards dirty
