How can my friend with dogs keep her wall clean?

My friend owns 2 Golden Labs. The culprits are shown below. They have rubbed up against two walls in his bungalow making it unsightly to look at. The worst part is in the living room under the television insert leading to the kitchen. He says he’s going to paint it, but what’s the point when it will be back that way after a few dog rubs. If anyone has an idea to keep these area clean, please let me know and I’ll pass it along. You have helped me with lots of ideas. This one is challenging. Thank you.

Abby and Jake have left their marks along the hallway to the bedrooms .

The grossest is in the living room. The doorway there is the kitchen.

Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the stains. If you do decide to repaint use one that has a dirt resistant finish.

They work! I have 3 rescue cats and 1 rescue beagle who leave marks on my walls....the treated paint is fantastic.

Dawn dish soap & hot water, wash cloth that's how I clean my walls where the oil/dirt from furry friends builds up. Don't forget the edges/corners of the doorways & doggie door if they use one & the baseboards too. Just one of the many joys of pet ownership.

  • Challening? I think not. Happens to many pet owners. I had a golden retriever at one time and she did the same thing. Easy to remedy. When your friend repaints use a low sheen washable paint. Much easier to wipe down the walls when needed. Brush the dogs regularly and wash the walls once a week or as needed. I have a wall like that in my house and I painted it a gloss enamel. Gets wiped down daily, but I have more pets.

Buy them a dog 🐕 bed and put them somewhere they will be out of the way!!!!

  • Try the Behr paint wipes. Those things are amazing! I thought I needed to repaint my trim, but the wipes took away all the dirt. I had tried washing them before to no avail.

An option to painting is to apply a panel of clear plexiglass over the bottom portion of the wall. It is much easier to keep clean than a painted surface.

After cleaning, wipe the walls with a lemon scented cleaner. Dogs usually avoid citcrus odors.
