Cook tomatoes in the pots with a little food oil and interior will be clean

  • First what type of pot are you using? Sometimes if the heat is too high, that can happen. Try cooking at a lower temperature. I have cheap pots and I have higher end stock pots. For soups, stews and chili, I use a good enamel over cast iron stock pot. Most cookware lines carry a less expensive version of the LeCreuset and Staub stockpot that work just as well in many cases.

I love Pam. Spray cooking pot liberally before heating, then cook whatever you like. After dinner rinse cookpot with hot water. Residue is usually fully removed at this point. If, however, some stubborn particles remain, just add a dash of liquid detergent and add water to cover the stain. Let it sit while you clean the table and load up the dishwasher (or hand wash dishes.) You can then pour out the water and all remnants will be dislodged. You can then just wash you cook pot with dish detergent as easily as you would a cup or a glass. I love Pam -- would not cook without it.

Turn down the heat and use a heavier sauce pan like a Revere.

Oh, and I use a metal heat diffuser a lot under saucepans to simmer stuff I don't want to burn like tomato sauce, cheese sauce, chili, stews, roasts, etc.

If you have burned stuff on the inside bottom of your pot, fill with hot water and maybe a cup of baking soda, put on the stove and bring to a low boil. Let it simmer for 15 minutes, let sit on the stove until cool enough to put your hand in the water and see how much you can scrub off.
