We recently had our log home restained and unfortunately the painters/stainers splattered stain on my glass door. I want to know if anyone is aware of a solution that will not ruin the insulated glass.

Have you tried a single edged razor scraper? That's how I removed the stain from our doors when hubby stained them.

You're welcome @Pat. HoDe or L's would carry thinners. They'd help you pick the right one too.

Am a user of the razor scrapers. If it is sticky, Just carefully wipe the blade on a cloth wetted with paint thinner (or replace the blade). Probably Goo Gone would remove any residue.

Nail polish remover (acetone) is amazing. It removed spray paint from my washing machine in a snap. A razor scraper, as everyone suggests, also works, and depending on the formulation of the product, Goo Gone will likely work, too, so you have lots of options. (I just had a huge painting project done involving almost every surface inside my home, so I've had a lot of experience recently cleaning spatters.)

    Mineral Spirits w/o the smell.

The insulation is the dead air space between the sheets of glass, treat as you would any glass. I would use windex with ammonia and a razor blade or scraper. It will even get dried latex off of paint when used with a cloth.

Thank you for the response Jan but the windex was the first thing I tried when I first doscovered the splatter. The stain is an oil based sticky stain and smears more than anything making things worse, but I think the mineral spirits or ascetone may be the answer.
