Vinegar! Make a bucket of vinegar and warm water or put it in a spray bottle and put it all over the area and scrub them down with that, if its on there heavily then soak the area and let it sit for a few minutes.

Never had that particular challenge but my solvent of choice would be mineral spirits. If you've got a can of WD-40 it and a paper towel would serve to try a small spot.

Shampoo washes it out of hair, so I'd try first a damp cloth or sponge with a dilute solution of water & shampoo. Wipe, rinse, wipe, rinse, without soaking. It should come off without too much work. Then use the Murphy's oil soap according to pkg directions.
