I keep a spray bottle in my bathroom that is filled with 1/4 cup bleach and 4 cups water. About twice a week, I mist my shower walls with this solution. It keeps mildew away completely. Be careful not to get it on your shower curtain, linens etc or it may bleach them as well...
You have a ventilation problem. Is there a fan in the bathroom? If so, use it. If not, think about having one installed. Is there a window to open? If so open it and keep open as long as possible after showering. Even a small portable fan will help until you can determine your next move.
Clean it with Clorox. Let it air out.
Vinegar is also helpful. I keep some in a bottle in the bathroom. Airing the bathroom out, improving ventilation is the ultimate fix. Moisture is the problem.
I agree with Audit9601, but there is a product called Wet&Forget shower cleaner that you spray on ONCE A WEEK. You don't even have to rinse it. Just spray it and forget about it!
Coat a new curtain with rainex. It will help prevent mold and soap scum build up.

Locate the source and your mildew will quit appearing.
The first thing is to make sure you have a good vent in the bathroom. Flip the switch to turn the vent during showering and bath time, as well as, for at least 30 minutes afterwards. It'll also help if you keep the door open all day. In addition to that... make sure any heat vent or air conditioning vent is left open to continue circulation of the air in the bathroom at all times. If there's a window in the bathroom and it's a nice day, you may want to open it up to keep air circulating and moving throughout the room. After showering, I take the liner of the shower stall and shake it out within the tub and then hang over a hook I have placed in the shower to let the water drip off versus leading up at the edge of the inside of the tub. I also keep the outside decorative curtain open versus closing it right away and actually leave it like that all day unless I have company. Also if the door in the bathroom is closed all day, towels that have been hung up to dry will add moisture to the room. Consider taking the towel that someone has used for bathing, if you want to use it again the next day, and hanging on a hook on that person's particular bedroom, we're likely dry better and more quickly than in a closed bathroom. The next idea is to clean it regularly with a cleaning product that you can make at home, if you prefer organic or buy in the store... like Clorox Clean-Up. Either way or all ways, it takes some perseverance and consistency. If you do not have a vent in the bathroom... that is the biggest problem in regard to exalting moisture from the room. I would recommend getting one installed soon. I think the second most important problem to prevent mildew is preventing constant moisture in a bathroom...one way to do this is keeping the door open all day to allow it to leave the room. I hope this helps! I have a thing about bathrooms being musty, closed up & mildewed as well...so I completely understand your concern. Good luck!
Each time you use shower, when finished take off the shower head to release the water still in it, or shake it well. that should help.
mix baking soda & white distilled vinegar in a spray bottle, then spray place, sit for few secs. fine and scrub places that look tough. if not work go to bleach but mis 50/50.. got any ventilation or put fan in window , suck out stale air, look for any small watr leaks around place that attrcts it. Also store have mildew products for bath shower too.
