How can I remove yellow spots on vinyl flooring?

I'm afraid that is probably due to age heat and wear, I wish I knew of a failsafe way . The only thing that might work to some degree is to use Barkeepers friend or something like Vim ..........

Clear tape the placemat to the floor to keep those rubber feet off your floor. Or, put scales away in a cabinet except when in use.
