Bar Keepers Friend worked well for me. It takes some elbow grease, but I got caked on grime off of a set of Saladmaster pans I found at a garage sale, they look near new now!

I agree that Bar Keepers is a great product. In addition, you can soak the pan in hot water with Dawn and a fabric dryer sheet...over nite.
I use oven cleaner. Spray it on, set them on the racks of you oven sprayed side up for a few hours then wipe with warm soapy cloth.
