If they are glass, turn the oven on warm. Place the votives upside down on a baking tray, lined with foil. (Sometimes I put a lining of paper towel on top of the foil.). As the oven warms, the wax will drip down onto the paper towel. Then I take a paper towel and wipe out the inside of the votive until it's clear. no need for the oven to be hot--just warm.

Either that, or put them in the freezer until the wax freezes up. Then it will just chip out and you can wash them.

I use the freezer method too. After the container has been in the freezer for a while, usually the wax will pop right out in one solid piece with a good tap on the bottom. If I set the container on the freezer shelf upside down, oftentimes when I come back to take it out, I find the candle has already fallen out of the container on its own, leaving little or no wax residue. Clean and super simple!

Freeze for a few hours and the wax will slide right out.

Put hot water with Dawn dish soap; soak overnight and wax should come out; works for me.

Soak in hot water. Will soften old wax and slide right out
