2 Tablespoons of Baking Soda & half cup of vinegar into drain & add 1 cup BOILING hot water. wait a few minutes then cover drain or put plug in to cover. I do mine about once a month. Works great.

sometimes the vents that go to the roof get plugged up and you have to go up and ream it out. The trap (goose neck) in your drain should stop any smells coming back in. If you trap is not deep enough, fixing that should help. If your vent are plugging up drains will work slower to and sometimes cause a back up.

It sounds like a blockage in the sewer vent. That must smell terrible. I think you may need a plumber for this one.

Did they put a trap in the drain? I had that problem in my summer cabin. Poured lots of baking soda down it. Sounds like there may be a plumbing problem. But if baking soda doesn't work you may have to cover drain when not in use.
