You can soak them in Coke Cola. It removes rust . I can no longer drink Coke after seeing that

Extra Fine Sandpaper or a Coarse Cotton Cloth and Vinegar.

Coca-Cola does contain small amounts of citric acid and phosphoric acid; however, all the insinuations about the dangers these acids might pose to people who drink Coca-Cola ignore a simple concept familiar to any first-year chemistry student: concentration. Coca-Cola contains less citric acid than does orange juice, and the concentration of phosphoric acid in Coke is far too small. By comparison, the gastric acid in your stomach’s digestive fluids is much stronger than any of the acids found in Coca-Cola. So now that we’ve cleared that up. A much better solution would be to place nuts and bolts in an empty water bottle. Pour a couple inches of apple cider vinegar in the bottle covering the items. That will coat them and help prevent future rust. I use the garage door lubricant in place of all wd40 projects. These two will also help remove rusty screws that wont come out.
