Unless you’ve done major sanding type work in house, I just use my vacuum hose and open returns and vacuum what I can. My hvac guy told me That was good enough.

Your HVAC guy should have professional equipment for this, but if its just the vent areas, I take off the vent covers, and use a vacuum hose attachment to clean that area. Be sure to duct tape any heads on as you don't want to lose them down the duct.

Replace your filter every month. That is all you need. Duct cleaning is a rip off. The amount of build up in the duct is so minimal. They do need to be cleaned if there was any major construction work done and they weren't covered.

I was going to have mine done and the company I called actually told me that there was no need. Now your dryer vent is another story - that should be cleaned out periodically.

i live in an apt. it was recently remolded , they have not clean the air ducts since2004 !

Depending on the what was remodeled they may not need cleaning. If it just involved new flooring, cabinetry, painting etc., then they do not cleaning. If it was a gut job with new drywall, insulation, debri etc., then they may need some cleaning. Contractors usually cover vents to prevent any loose debri to get pulled into ductwork

Used a vacuum as far as it could reach and cleaned the furnace filter, will keep and eye on it. So far so good.

Use a Vacuum cleaner hose end to do it.
