Vinegar & Lemon juice may or may not work. Give it a try. The yellow is from the rubber backing on the rug. Sometimes Hydrogen Peroxide works as well. Sometimes I sprinkle Cascade Dish washing detergent (dry formula) on it. Cascade Dish Washing Detergent is the most under used cleaning agent one has under their sink. Hot water & Cascade cleans grease better than anything I have ever used. Sometimes your sponge can get all greased up when you are cleaning an oven or stove top & the only to get that off you sponge is to sprinkle some Cascade on it & let it sit for 10 mins. & voila, clean sponge.

If stain is on surface of linoleum, it can be removed with mineral spirits. If the mineral spirits don't work, the only other thing I can think of would be a mild abrasive, like a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If stain has been absorbed into linoleum, it is likely the stains are permanent.

I'd like to try whitening toothpaste. Why not? Let it sit for awhile I would suppose. Good Luck.
