Just had new laminate flooring installed. The installer got the glue from the installation process. How do I safely remove it?

Call the installer and have him come back and fix it. If you mess it up, it could void the warranty.

Why not call the installer back to fix it?

  • They should remove it. Have you paid them already? Call the boss and have them come back and finish the job properly. Sloppy workmanship is simply not acceptable. Pure acetone should clean it up though. Going forward never ever give any contractor final payment until the place is spotless and you are 100% satisfied. No pay me, they will come back - you could wait till the cows come home a month of Sundays from now. When you complete the job correctly you get paid per terms of contract. Period, said and done.

Agree with others, let them fix it.

The paint areas in the store as well as the flooring sections, but as the rest have said use the installer first. If he refuses report them to the BBB and hit the stores for the advice you need. they will have the products you need

ALWAYS read directions and cautions when using chemicals!

Mineral spirits cleans off glue...we had to use it to clean up after we put down flooring. Try it in a small area that can be hidden to make sure it doesn't hurt the finish. It does remove the shine on some floors!
