Once a week I pour 1/2 box of baking soda in the toilet, then pour in vinegar. Let it foam up and sit for about an hour. Swish around with a toilet brush and flush.

I say go the easy, less labor intensive route. Try tossing a couple denture cleaning tablets in the bowl. Anything foamy (like vinegar and baking soda) and a good stiff toilet brush will work. As a last resort, a pumice stone can be used. Be certain you soak the pumice and follow the manufacturer directions so as not to damage your toilet. If the toilet is damaged and soiled beyond repair, consider replacing it.

Drywall screen sand paper. For YEARS I used pumice ston. My friend told me about drywall screen. So much quicker and easier!! I used 120 grit.

I cut 2" square pieces and put one in each bathroom. Can be used quite a few times before needing more.

I have a Janitorial Svc and have been using the screen 120 grit for getting the rings out...BUT,,,being some of my customers have been around for 17 yrs to 10 yrs--the pumice stone and the screen has taken the finish off a few of them. it is not bad but I have turned to other solutions for removing the ring. Now I am doing the Kool-Aid Lemonade and getting good results. If you use the screen once in a while and keep it up with this Lemonade idea--you will be safe
